This article, of course, caught my eye. Not very Washington-state-centric though there is a nod to Whidbey Island in there. The photo above was taken when we stayed at Iron Springs Resort on Copalis Beach. The setting is such that it makes up for less-than-stellar accomodations. (See the TripAdvisor reviews for more.) The beach is gorgeous and your dog can roam free. We quickly realized, however, that as wonderful as it was to see Sofa run freely about, something about the crashing waves made him go nutty. He took off barking at them all the way down the beach, forcing us to run after him for a mile. (And the noise of the waves made it that much harder to get his attention.) Since then, we’ve reserved his off-leash times to a couple local dog parks that also have water access: Warren G. Magnuson Park and Marymoor.

Oh Sofa….you’re the bestest. Look at those eyes!
That article mentioned the beach I used to walk on every day! We lived like a block from the Long Beach dog beach. It was a great way to get my dog fix as a cat person!
