I absolutely cannot thank you enough. Who would have thought one would find a vintage fireplace owner's manual on a site like this! I bought our fireplace as a "Preway" sight unseen from Ohio (we're California), but the Model number on my unit is listed in your manual, so obviously it's a Sears unit.
